Use other arts as a lead to visual art
20-21 Visual Arts Centre in Scunthorpe ran a project, Making your Mark, involving 24 pupils aged 8
and 9, from Haxey Church of England Primary School. A day of activities in the Gallery, led by an artist, involved the children
in dance and printmaking. A hands-on exhibition 'Inside Art', which was aimed at primary school children looking at why
artists draw and paint, was used as inspiration for the activities. Short sessions focused on particular colours and shapes
and resulted in a performance and some large mono-prints. The final dance piece was performed by the children with
coloured shapes printed on their arms and legs, using the prints as a backdrop.
