Juliette Buss
Juliette is an experienced freelance arts education specialist whose previous projects include being a consultant on the Qualifications & Curriculum Authority 'Investigating Creativity' project and Project Manager for the Turner Centre's RALP-funded artist-in-residence programme. She is currently Project Manager (Education) for the Brighton Photo Biennial, Education Project Co-ordinator for 'Wonderful' a NESTA-funded touring exhibition of collaborative research between leading artists and scientists, and a council member of Engage.
Fiona Godfrey
Fiona has taught in first, primary and middle schools in London and Bath, working both as a general and art specialist teacher. She studied for an MA in Art Education at UCE in Birmingham, gaining a distinction for her thesis on how encounters with art can develop creative and critical thinking. She led the education programme at Oriel Mostyn gallery in North Wales and was Education Director at the Centre for Visual Arts in Cardiff. She now works as an arts education consultant, promoting the value for schools and pupils of working with artists and arts organisations, through CPD for teachers, project work, writing, research and evaluation.
Penny Jones
Penny is a gallery educator, specialising in the organisation of participatory arts initiatives for young people and adults in galleries, museums, schools and health and community settings. After teaching in a secondary school art department for ten years and teaching A level Art History, she began to develop gallery education projects. For the past five years she has worked for a Sussex NHS trust managing an arts programme for young patients with medical staff, local galleries and artists. Since 2001 she has been employed by the National Gallery to manage a curriculum development initiative with London schools.
Jem Main
Jem is Director of The Study Gallery, Poole. After teaching for ten years in Secondary Education in Liverpool and West Lancashire, Jem took up a lecturing post at Poole College. His creative work with the college's twentieth century collection, principally in schools across the region, led to the development of the Gallery and a five year secondment to Dorset LEA as Art Adviser. Absorbed by the fast growing field of Gallery Education and involved in several educational initiatives, Jem was nominated for a Creative Britons award. Jem has been involved with Artworks since its inception.
Sarah Mossop
Sarah is Community and Education Manager at Modern Art Oxford. She has worked as a gallery educator for over 12 years, previously during a secondment from teaching at the Minories Art Gallery in Colchester and as Gallery Education Manager at the Crafts Council in London. She studied Sculpture at Chelsea School of Art and gained her post-graduate teaching qualification from the Institute of Education, London University. Her teaching experience includes six years as a secondary school Art teacher.
Jane Sillis
Jane has worked in the visual arts for the last twenty years principally with audiences unfamiliar with contemporary and modern art. She was Education Officer at Ikon Gallery (1986 - 89), Head of Community Education at the Whitechapel Art Gallery (1994 - 99) and a support officer for the DfES Museums and Galleries Education Programme (1999 - 2002). Jane is Arts Manager for Look Ahead Housing and Care were she has developed an arts programme and strategy with vulnerable people in London and the South East. She has carried out several evaluations of programmes, including Tate Modern and the Turner Centre.
Robin Widdowson
Robin was appointed as Consultant for art & design at the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) in January 2004. Having taught in a secondary school art department for over 16 years, he has also worked as an ICT co-ordinator, an associate tutor for initial teacher training in Bristol and provided extensive INSET for ICT and art & design. He also has over 15 years experience working within the examinations system at all levels, most recently as principle examiner for the new A-levels.
