Application Guidelines and Procedures

If the Awards are re-launched, it is likely that the format and structure will change. However, it may still be useful for you to recap on how schools have entered the Awards in the past:

1
Eligibility:
For the last five years of the Artworks Awards, any early years setting, primary, secondary or special school could enter. Projects could be with pupils of any age up to 18, from both state-funded and private schools. Previous winners were also able to enter.

2
Entry form and storyboard:
Schools entering the Awards have completed an entry form, describing the project in full and attaching it to a storyboard showing exactly what the project involved. The storyboard provided supporting visual evidence with simple text captions, but did not feature original work.

3
The judging process:
A team of art education specialists assessed all entries. Winning entries were then selected by a final Judging Panel which in the past has included Christoph Grunenberg, Director of Tate Liverpool; Sandy Nairne, Director of the National Portrait Gallery; and Karen Wright, Editor of Modern Painters.

Winners
Winners have attended an Artworks Awards ceremony held on Children's Art Day.
